Receiving Real Estate Division Email

The Real Estate Division's primary method of communicating with students is by email. It is important that emails from the Real Estate Division are not tagged as junk mail or "spam" by your email program. To ensure you receive important emails from the Real Estate Division, please follow the steps below.

Step 1: Add to contacts

Check your inbox (and junk mail/spam folder if you have one) for emails from the Real Estate Division. Add the sender (Real Estate Division) to your contacts (usually right-click on the sender's name and select "add to contacts" or "add to address book"). Refer to your email provider's Help menu for more info on adding to contacts if needed. Adding the Real Estate Division as a known contact will prevent your email program from marking emails as junk mail/spam.

Step 2: Mark as "not spam"

If you have a junk email/spam folder, check it to see if you have already received emails from Sauder School of Business or the Real Estate Division. If so, make sure you mark those messages using the "not spam" or "not junk" button (usually found on the top bar, or by right-clicking the email). Refer to your email provider's Help menu for more info on marking emails as "not spam/junk" if needed.

Step 3: Add Real Estate Division domains to safe lists

Add the following two domains (the information that follows the "@" in an email address) to your email provider's safe sender's list:

  • realestate.sauder.ubc.ca
  • sauder.ubc.ca

To do this, follow the instructions below that related to your email provider. If we haven't listed your email provider here, look for similar instructions in the Help menu provided in the email program you are using (there is usually a Help menu on the top bar, or press F1).

Outlook 2003

On the Tools menu, click Options. On the Preferences tab, under E-mail, click Junk E-mail. Click the Safe Senders tab. Click Add. In the Enter an e-mail address... box, enter realestate.sauder.ubc.ca, and then click OK. Repeat these steps for sauder.ubc.ca.

Yahoo

On the Options menu (top right of screen), choose Filters. Click Add. Give your new filter a name such as "UBC". Type in realestate.sauder.ubc.ca in the "From header contains" line. Next to "Move message to" select Inbox or your preferred folder. Repeat these steps for sauder.ubc.ca.

Hotmail

When you're in Mail, click Options in the top right corner. Select Junk Email Protection, then "Safe list". Type realestate.sauder.ubc.ca into the box, then click Add. Make sure you check the box after adding it. Repeat these steps for sauder.ubc.ca.

Remember - Keep your email address current

Remember to update your Student Profile (found on your Course Resources webpage) if your email or mailing address has changed since you registered in the course. It is important that we know of any changes to your contact info - you may miss out on important correspondence otherwise.
